Since we have had to move the event dates of the Red knight due to various scheduling issues, we are now hosting the Hunt of the Green knight, at the time when we would normally host our fall hunt in November. This is a more causal event, the focus will be on hiking, cooking and socializing, with some archery and single combat sparring. We will not emphasize armour, since potential snow and armour don’t mix, but if you’d like to bring partial armour such as a breastplate etc . go for it.
If we get enough people who are interested we may try a few smaller group combat scenarios ( if you are an archer, bring blunt arrows if you have them).
Weather may be bad, so be prepared for snow, or freezing rain, bring warm historical gear and long underwear should you need additional layers.
Food will be organized by mess-group. If you are not already in a unit based mess-group you will be assigned to one.
IT WILL BE COLD - for sleeping - bring all the warm bedding you need to be comfortable. Priority on warmth, don’t worry about historical authenticity. We will ask that participants wear HISTORICAL FOOTWEAR during the day. In the evening wear whatever you need to stay warm. Bring many socks and chemical hand and footwarmers if you are an especially cold appendages person.
No historical cooking experience is required. You will be expected to help with food prep, fire management, dish washing etc.
We expect most people to be sleeping in their own historical tent. Due to covid we will be less able to provide shared medieval tent space than usual. We will have a designated space for modern tents a little ways from the medieval camp. We will not be providing tents, Please take care of your own tent needs.
Event is open to Hoplologia members and members of our sister organizations only.
Cost for the event is $65 plus insurance for a total of $85.
Food cost for the weekend will vary slightly from mess-group to mess-group and will be managed by individual mess groups. The rate for youths is under 18 is 25 for the event and 20 for insurance.
Once you complete the form, and pay, you will be added to our event Facebook group. We may also contact you via email through our mailchimp account. Please make sure you open these emails. We will not give your email address to any third party organizations.
All adults must register separately. Payment is a separate action from filling in the form so please make sure you do both.
