Registration is now open for Deed of the May Queen!
We will kick off the reenacting season in style with an archery-focused event located near Toronto.
You may also be asked to share a song or poem or riddle with your May Queen, so see if you can learn something of the sort to entertain their majesty. This year we hope to select the Queen on Friday evening by general acclaim. Anyone can put themselves forward for the role, and they will be master of the revels for the weekend. The Queen can offer a speech about what an excellent queen they would be, discuss their clothing excellence, or wow the crowd however they see fit! Saturday evening we will sacrifice John Barleycorn, to herald the coming spring.
This year I want to really encourage everyone to bring a medieval song or poem to perform for us or teach to everyone. Feel free to bring print outs for lyrics.
On Saturday, we will begin with some practice archery in the morning, then in the afternoon we can do some competitive shooting in the forest range, we will also have the opportunity for sharps cutting and fire making practice!
Saturday is a great opportunity for complex medieval cooking so if you have something ambitious you’d like to cook, please let Aurora know so it can be integrated into our cooking plans.
Sunday morning we will aim to have some more sparring and range shooting before tear down begins.
NOTE - unfortunately, crossbows are not allowed at the site.
FIREWOOD - is provided on site.
WATER - please bring some! Bringing at least one 4 litre for yourself is a good idea. Discuss what is needed and what can fit in the car with your ride. Drivers, please plan to bring at least one large camping water jug full.
If you are not already in a messgroup for eating, you will be assigned to one.
PLEASE NOTE - mess group spaces are limited and first come first serve so late registrants may have to manage their own food.
